Relation Between Trust in People and Gender

When researching the results of the first wave of CZEPS, we also measured the general trust of the respondents in other people. The graph shows the relation between gender and trust. The results, which include responses from 22,564 students, show that a quarter of adolescents rather distrust others, less than half of adolescents partly have and partly don’t have trust in others, and almost 30 % rather or completely trust others. Compared to girls and adolescents not belonging to the binary gender, a higher proportion of boys (35 %) have trust in others, while for girls the proportion is 25 % and for other genders only 13 %. At the same time, the greatest distrust is observed among the latter group, with almost half of them saying they don’t have trust or rather don’t have trust in other people; among girls, 29 % don’t have trust in other people, and among boys, the proportion of those who don’t have trust in others is 21 %. graph_AK
